Description

Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, 9:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Job Description

  • Work with diagnostic X-Ray in Radiology/Cardiology specialty.
  • Experience with C-arm and portable X-Ray equipment is required.
  • Experience with O-arm equipment is preferred.
  • Equipment used includes Philips, Siemens, and GE systems.
  • Weekend work required every third weekend; may be scheduled every other weekend based on unit needs.
  • Black scrubs required.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Locals and first-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technician license in New Jersey.
  • Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year.
  • ARRT (R) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience as an X-Ray Technician.

Documentation and Compliance Requirements

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check required within 30 days of start.
  • Must include all aliases and locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • Nationwide and federal checks required; international searches not required.
  • Candidates cannot start with open cases.
  • Background attestation required if background check is pending at start.

Health and Safety

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 3 months of start.
  • Physical exam within the past 12 months, confirming clearance to perform job duties and free of communicable disease.
  • Drug screen (10-panel urine) required within 30 days of start.
  • Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
  • Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start; on-site fit testing mandatory.
  • Color blindness exam required if job tasks require color discrimination.
  • Latex allergy questionnaire required if applicable.
  • Other immunizations/titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.

Competency and Testing

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 72 hours of signing.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required as applicable.
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication required; candidates have 3 attempts to pass.
  • Skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.

References and Work History

  • Two references required within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required.
  • Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates for at least 1 year prior to start, allowing gaps of 30 days or less.

Scheduling and Time Off

  • Any schedule requests, including time off, must be submitted with application and approved before offer.
  • Floating policy must be completed for every new assignment or site transfer.

Additional Notes

  • Government-issued photo ID and driver's license must be provided within 48 hours of signing.
  • Candidates must bring all required health and clearance documents on the first day of orientation.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Black scrubs are the required uniform color.
  • EPIC is the electronic charting system used.

This position offers a flexible contract length with options for 13 or 26 weeks, night shift hours, and requires specific technical skills and certifications relevant to Radiology/Cardiology X-Ray technology.
