Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 6 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Details
- Staffing Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for labor; 1:3 for couplets
- Call Requirement: None
- Floating: Only within the division; no float to med/surg units
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Unit Systems: Pyxis (medication), Epic (documentation), SBAR (communication)
- Scrubs: Any color allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Hampshire
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- National Technical Certification (Tech Cert - National)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Complete Social Security Verification release and state-specific background checks (including NH statewide release) prior to start
- Background check must include:
- Social Security Verification
- National Sex Offender Registry
- National Criminal Search
- FACIS Level 3
- Education Verification
- Criminal county/state searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police search required instead)
- Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 14 days prior to start (no exceptions)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Respiratory Safety Clearance questionnaire required
- Two current professional references within last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor or charge RN)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 31 – Apr 1). Medical or religious exemptions require facility-specific waiver and approval
- Tdap: Vaccine within last 10 years required; medical or religious exemptions require documentation and approval
- TB Testing:
- True 2-step PPD, Qgold, or T-spot within 1 year prior to start
- For past positive TB, negative chest x-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or Titers Required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
- Varicella (history of disease NOT accepted)
- Medical exemptions require provider documentation; religious exemptions are not allowed for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and Rubeola
- Annual fit mask test required (N95 or equivalent masks); CAPR training available if fit test fails
Testing and Competency Exams
- Basic Dysrhythmia (EKG) Pass/Fail exam required within 48 hours of contract signing for Southern New Hampshire units
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (for internal purposes)
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication awareness required onsite during orientation
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification preferred/required depending on unit
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification preferred/required depending on unit
Additional Facility Requirements
- Passport-style photo (jpeg) for badge
- Proof of auto insurance required if driving to patient homes (Home Health/Hospice only)
- Compliance attestation must be completed prior to clearance
- Hepatitis B declination form required if vaccine declined
- Flu and Tdap exemption forms must be completed and approved if applicable
Notes
- Candidates cannot start with pending background or drug screens
- Candidates must complete all required exams and certifications within specified timeframes
- Floating limited to labor and delivery division only
- No call responsibilities
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience and strong Epic skills seeking a short-term night shift contract in New Hampshire.
