Job Opportunity: RRT (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location
- Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Details
- Travel/Contract position
- Contract length: 26 weeks (open to 13 weeks if preferred)
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Floating between hospital campuses and units including NICU and Pediatric units based on census and staffing needs
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Connecticut
- Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Current state license for Respiratory Therapist
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CRT or RRT credential
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) recommended
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) recommended for NICU work
Facility & Work Environment
- Short term acute care hospital
- Level II Trauma Center
- Charting system: EPIC
- Free parking available
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and education verification
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly preferred for pediatric specialties)
- TB testing: Negative T-Spot, QGold, or 2 PPDs within required timeframes; chest x-ray if positive history
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination series preferred
- Various mandatory training modules and attestations including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except NICU, PICU, Psychiatry)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain campuses)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RRT)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- EPIC Testing (optional but highly encouraged)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Case Managers, Home Health, Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient)
- Attestation of Prior Radiation Exposure if applicable
Additional Notes
- Candidates must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- References required; for RRT candidates, one reference must be from a supervisor
- Candidates must be prepared to answer questions regarding attendance, punctuality, NICU experience, and ventilator experience before manager submission
- Floating between campuses and units is expected based on staffing needs
