Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Function independently in all areas of Endoscopy, including advanced procedures such as:
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Pulmonary procedures including bronchoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
- Expertise in bariatric procedures and ION Robot preferred
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying onsite until the event passes or serving as relief
- Expected to demonstrate mission and values consistent with a full-time employee, always prioritizing patient care
Work Schedule
- 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
- On-call responsibilities for after-hours, weekends, and holidays
- Possible shift times (depending on unit needs):
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 2 years of endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Pulmonology experience, including procedures such as bronchoscopy and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Certifications (Must be current or renewed prior to start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or RQI accepted
- Other certifications as applicable based on unit assignment (verify with program management if unclear)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good health
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted)
- TB testing (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually; if positive, additional documentation required
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccination required for select units (ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU)
- Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Annual fit mask testing (N95) required; can be completed onsite if needed
Additional Information
- Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months, plain background, no obstructions or filters
- May be required to complete onsite fit testing authorization form if fit test is done onsite
- Emergency preparedness checklist required for assignments during hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30)
- Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments and on-call expectations
Experience
- Must be fully competent and experienced in endoscopy nursing, including advanced procedures
- No explicit minimum years of experience stated, but advanced procedural competency is mandatory
- No prior travel experience required
This position is ideal for experienced Endoscopy RNs comfortable with advanced procedures and flexible scheduling including on-call duties.
