Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Float between Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother Baby, and Obstetric Special Care units as needed
- Work schedule: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Guaranteed hours:
- 36 hours for 3 twelve-hour shifts
- 48 hours for 4 twelve-hour shifts
- 40 hours for shifts under 12 hours (8 or 10-hour shifts)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Facility & Department Highlights
- L&D unit includes 12 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, 3 Operating Rooms, 6 OB triage beds, and 8 OB Special Care beds
- Mother Baby Center has 34 rooms providing postpartum and newborn care; recognized as Baby Friendly
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Magnet designated, Teaching hospital, Level 1 Trauma center
- Total staffed beds: 632
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- RTO (Request Time Off) must be submitted at profile submission; no approvals after contract signing
- Background checks within 30 days of assignment start, including:
- 7-year Social Security Number trace, national criminal history, sex offender database, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, noting latex sensitivity
- OSHA respirator fit mask form completed at least 1 week prior to start; fit testing onsite at orientation
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity via vaccines or titers
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity via vaccines or titers
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- 10-panel drug screen with THC within 30 days of start (no medical marijuana cards or dilute screens accepted)
- Two professional references from previous employers required
- Current resume with 7-year work history and skills checklist required

- No on-call requirement
- Locals accepted; no local radius restrictions
- Modules related to orientation and unit-specific competencies will be completed onsite
