Certified Surgical Technologist - OR

Location: Bozeman, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Variable, 40 hours per week

Job Summary

• Functions as the scrub person in the operating room under the supervision of the surgeon and RN.
• Ensures a safe OR environment, proper equipment function, and patient safety during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Applies expertise in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of surgical tools and technologies.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare and complete case carts according to preference cards.
• Interpret preference cards to procure instruments and supplies.
• Communicate with OR staff and sterile processing to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily schedule with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches.
• Serve as a resource for sterile processing and surgical services departments regarding supply and instrumentation needs.
• Coordinate with materials management on supply utilization and deployment.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, or completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program.

Additional Information

• Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
• The facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances.
