Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Days (4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work as an integral member of the Interventional Radiology (IR) team, collaborating with physicians and nurses to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Perform a variety of procedures including central line placements, embolizations, and stroke interventions.
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Rotate between two IR locations within the hospital.
  • Call requirement: average of 4-6 call shifts per month.
  • Use medical imaging techniques to assist in diagnosis and treatment, demonstrating vascular and non-vascular structures.
  • Ensure radiation safety for patients and team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Oregon.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year.
  • Certification by ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • OBMI (Oregon Board of Medical Imaging) licensure.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider only, traditional or Heartcode complete.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider only.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only.
  • Stroke CEUs as applicable to unit assignment.
  • NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years).
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) if required by role.

Compliance & Background Checks

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day.
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start, including education and work history verification, international searches if applicable, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and National Sex Offender Search.
  • No open court cases allowed; any background hits require a personal criminal history statement.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel including methamphetamines within 3 months prior to start, processed through a SAMHSA-certified lab.
  • Education verification required (primary source).
  • Two professional references from supervisors/managers within the last 24 months required.
  • Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent).
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or signed declination)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
    • Hepatitis B (full vaccine series, immune titer, or declination)
    • Varicella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months prior to start.
  • TB questionnaire required for all candidates.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required by December 1 annually.

  • Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date; any planned unavailability must be communicated in advance.
  • Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Facility-specific job description must be signed prior to start.
  • Completion of required online training modules prior to badge issuance (varies by role).
  • Medication override test and account setup guides provided for RNs (if applicable).
  • Respirator clearance required for fit testing if not completed prior to start.
