Description

Interventional Radiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule & Shift Details

  • Day shift: 4x10-hour shifts (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) with 1 day off per week
  • On-call requirements:
    • Two weeknights per week (5:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
    • One weekend per month (Friday 5:30 PM – Monday 7:00 AM)
  • Call back response time: 30 minutes
  • Floating required to other hospital departments within skill set if census is low
  • No time off allowed during specified holidays and holiday weeks

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and uploaded as actual certificate
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for certain units; must be current and uploaded as actual certificate
  • ARRT (R) with advanced certification in one of the following:
    • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
    • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)
    • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)
  • State license valid for Tennessee; must be current and verifiable within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification required (actual downloaded certificate, no screenshots/photos)

Experience & Skills

  • Must have recent Neuro experience including Neuro/Stroke cases
  • Experience with PACS, Contrast, Biopsies
  • Familiarity with Siemens equipment
  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but must have recent relevant experience in specialty and neuro/stroke

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check must cover 7 years and include:
    • SSN Trace with complete address history
    • Alias verification
    • National and state sex offender registries
    • National criminal and federal criminal searches
    • State abuse registry
    • Other specified checks as per facility requirements
  • Drug testing within 45 days of start, covering a comprehensive panel including Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Fentanyl, Marijuana, Opiates, and others
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty
  • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine required for starts on/after 9/8/2025 (no declinations accepted except approved medical/religious exemptions)

Competency & Skills Verification

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing within 12 months (100% score required)
  • Competency Exam (Core Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for RNs) within 12 months, minimum 80% score
  • Skills checklist updated within the last year, signed or DocuSigned

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge: passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings
  • Utility bill or lease/mortgage statement in candidate’s name with address >75 miles from contracted facility
  • Two supervisory references from employers within the last 3 years
  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Interventional Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of experience
  • Recent Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ARRT (R) certification
  • Advanced certification in one of the following:
    • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
    • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV)
    • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)

  • Bi-weekly orientation provided
  • Travelers requesting time off during specified holidays will not be accommodated
  • Must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and attestation documents prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology professionals with strong neuro/stroke skills, advanced ARRT certifications, and the ability to work flexible shifts including on-call and floating assignments.
