Job Opportunity: SICU Registered Nurse

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: May float within scope primarily to other ICUs as needed
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
  • Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of recent SICU (Surgical Intensive Care) experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
  • State-specific searches including:
    • Illinois Department of Corrections Inmate Search
    • Illinois Most Wanted Search (must show all 20 wanted fugitives)
    • Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
  • Fingerprinting: Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry results required for clinical candidates without an IL license; prints must be taken in Illinois 3 business days prior to start
  • Education verification required (initial degree verification)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, DO, or equivalent
  • Fit mask test required (3M1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing (color photo, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
  • Review and sign Code of Conduct within 7 days of contract signing
  • Parking permit form must be completed within 7 days of contract signing unless using alternative transportation
  • Badge name confirmation required

Notes

  • Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; cancellations beyond this will be billed
  • Candidates may be placed on-call in lieu of canceled shifts, which counts as a called-off shift

This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with an active Illinois license seeking a night shift travel assignment in a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital.
