Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Saint Louis, Missouri
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Care (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Care experience (highest requirement)
- NICU and/or PICU experience required
- Skills in Emergency Department (ED), pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and level 1 trauma care
Schedule Requirements
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No on-call duties
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Locals not accepted
- Pending license accepted
Required Certifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA only, with standard 2-year expiration
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA or AAP certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
Required Competencies
- Pediatric Pharmacology exam (not required for NICU)
- Unit-specific competency exams, including pediatric competency if a joint pediatric exam is not available
- Competency exams must be updated annually
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver's license)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest related degree required before start
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required (time sensitive)
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check, renewed annually
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel; must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95) required prior to start; must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or equivalent within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required; no exemptions allowed for NICU or newborn nursery staff
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - Apr 1)

- Must review and sign facility policies including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement (updated annually)
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Confidentiality Form (updated annually)
- Hand Hygiene Policy
- Fingernail Policy (non-compliance may result in being sent home)
- Dress Code Policy
- Completion of regulatory compliance education and training modules (annual requirement)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Medication test and pharmacology competency exam required at orientation
- References: Two professional references required; supervisors within the last year preferred
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
