Job Description

  • Provide respiratory therapy care for patients ranging from NICU to geriatrics.
  • Patient areas include ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, small Pediatrics unit (no PICU), and level III NICU.
  • Work covers inpatient units and the Emergency Room.
  • Typical treatments per shift: up to 30, varying by season and floor workload.
  • Assist with bedside bronchoscopies; do not perform EKGs.
  • Assist with intubation and may place Laryngeal Mask Airways (LMA).
  • Use equipment such as Drager vents, Cervo-NICU, Hamilton transport vent, Vapotherm, Philips V60 and V30.
  • Floating required across ICU, floors, NICU, and ER.
  • Shifts are 12 hours (6 PM to 6:30 AM), night shift.
  • Self-scheduling allowed, including block scheduling.
  • Must attend one department meeting per month.
  • Weekend work every other weekend; holiday work as needed.
  • Low call or standby call requirement.
  • One week of unit/department-specific orientation based on experience.
  • Dress code: hunter green scrubs (not provided).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience.
  • Must have NICU experience.
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC.
  • Stable and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required only for NICU or travelers handling babies.
  • First-time travelers are acceptable.

Additional Information

  • Always a Respiratory Manager, Supervisor, or Lead Therapist on each shift.
  • Traveler may be charge therapist depending on experience and willingness.
  • Traveler will never be the only RT in-house.
  • Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidate residence.
