Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory Therapist - NICU)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Position Overview
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist with NICU experience required.
- Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
- Schedule includes 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block.
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
- Certifications required:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Additional Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID.
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), and education verification.
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (required, no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor).
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklist to be completed.
- Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance for orientation and work access.
Notes
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Local candidates within 75 miles are considered.
- On-call shifts are not required.
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
- Contract employees must complete competency checklists within 3 weeks after start date.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held.
This position is ideal for experienced respiratory therapists with strong NICU and pediatric critical care backgrounds seeking a travel contract opportunity with night shifts and weekend requirements.
