ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Fishers, Indiana

Position Overview

  • Specialty: Critical Care Float Registered Nurse
  • Schedule: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Hours: Typically 36 hours per week (3x12 hr shifts)
  • Float Requirement: Yes, must float between ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Emergency Department (ED) as needed
  • Unit Patient Conditions: ARDS, COPD, STEMI, NSTEMI, DKA, AKI, UTI, Acute Shock, Cath Lab procedures, EEGs, Cardioversion, Stress Tests
  • Special Equipment Experience: Ventilator, Arctic Sun, Balloon Pump (rare use)
  • Holiday Work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification
  • NRP certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Must be completed within 90 days of start, including 7-year work/living history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, and education verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education: Official transcript or diploma required (may be pending at start if needed)
  • Physical Exam: Completed within 12 months of start date
  • Fit Mask Test: Respirator fit test within 12 months with approved N95 models; on-site fit testing available only as last resort with prior approval
  • Immunizations and Health Screenings:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Flu vaccination required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31); no declinations accepted, medical/religious exemptions require approval
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Strongly recommended but not required
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (includes amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
  • Color Blind Testing: Ishihara exam or equivalent with 100% minimum score required

  • Guaranteed Hours: Options for 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts with varying weekly hours (36-48 hours)
  • Restrictions: Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this ICU role)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable floating across multiple critical care units and working night shifts in a fast-paced acute care environment.
