Job Description
- Perform general X-ray studies, fluoroscopy (fluoro), and assist in operating room (OR) cases including cystoscopy, orthopedic, and gastrointestinal imaging.
- Float between general X-ray department, fluoro, and OR as needed.
- Average workload: approximately 110 scans/studies per day.
- May be the only technologist on-site overnight.
- Weekend schedule: every other weekend.
- Holiday rotation participation may be required.
- Shifts follow a 2-2-3 schedule with 8-hour shifts covering daylight, afternoon, and midnight hours.
- Typical shift hours:
- Day: 06:00-14:30, 06:30-15:00, 08:00-16:30, 09:30-17:00
- Afternoon: 14:30-23:00
- Midnight: 00:00-08:00
- Orientation includes 5 shifts with a preceptor, primarily on afternoon and midnight shifts.
- Dress code: Clean, professional scrubs of any color allowed; permanent staff wear emerald green (optional for travelers).
Equipment & Technology
- Department has 4 rooms: 3 general X-ray, 1 fluoroscopy, 2 portable units, and 3 C-Arms.
- Equipment brands include GE AMX portables with DR-Konica, Del Medical, Siemens, Philips, and OEC C-Arms.
- PACS system: Intellirad/Intelliconnect.
- EMR system: Community Works.
Staffing
- 6-7 technologists on day shift (06:00-17:00), 3-4 on evening shifts, and 1 on midnight shift.
- Imaging Director and Manager available weekdays; lead tech present most afternoons.
- Radiologist coverage onsite until 5 pm, then on-call; teleradiology covers overnight.
Required Qualifications
- ARRT certification.
- West Virginia X-ray license.
- BLS certification.
- Must be able to work fluoro and surgery cases.
- Must be able to function in all areas: general X-ray, portable imaging, OR, and fluoroscopy.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Must comply with a 50-mile radius rule and provide an unexpired driver’s license with application.
- WV CARES background check required prior to start.
- Any license issues must be disclosed at time of submission.
Additional Information
- No IV starts required.
- No call or standby responsibilities.
- No Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) used in the department.
