Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- 17-bed ICU/CSICU caring for a wide range of patients from neonates to geriatrics
- Specialized cardiovascular care including post-coronary artery bypass grafting, thoracotomy, carotid stenting, heart valve procedures, and vascular interventions
- Advanced therapies and equipment used: intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), induced hypothermia, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), Impella Heart Pump
- Collaborative, professional team culture emphasizing integrity, respect, and evidence-based care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arkansas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and leadership within the nursing team
- Use the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to promote evidence-based care and a healing environment
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card copy
- E-Verify or attestation
- Background check (7-year, including aliases, SS trace, counties, state, national, education verification, motor vehicle report if applicable) within 6 months of start; annual updates required for direct hires and candidates with assignment gaps over 30 days
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification
- Sex offender and state-specific criminal history checks within 30 days of start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable, updated annually
- Facility-specific documents including dress code, pre-screening compliance checklist, TB questionnaire, and orientation materials
- Physical exam (required for direct hires, must be current within 1 year)
- Immunizations and health screenings (must be current or completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Drug screening (negative 10-panel within 30 days; instant tests not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination (required during flu season: Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination documentation or exemption/declination notification
- References: 2 required within 3 years (preferably within 2 years)
- Resume or employment application copy
- Work history verification for past 2 years
- Annual skills checklist update
Additional Information
- Position is safety sensitive under Arkansas Act 593 regarding medical marijuana
- Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during orientation
- Orientation and compliance forms must be completed prior to start
