Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 4x10 hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- On-call required:
- 6-9 weekdays per month (5:15 PM - 7:00 AM), distributed over a 4-week period
- 1 weekend per 4-week period (Friday 5:15 PM to Monday 7:00 AM, 48 hours)
- On-call coverage ensures 3 staff available at all times for STEMI coverage
- Facility type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrubs provided
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist within the last year
- ACLS certification required
- BLS certification required
- ARRT-R certification required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation and official transcripts required for internationally educated candidates
- Verification of highest education level required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% score
- Color blind testing required for all candidates (effective 8/2/2024), minimum 80% score
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for Cath Lab Techs and related units
- EPIC testing or training provided; candidates with EPIC experience may test out prior to orientation
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Training
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for tech roles including Cath Lab Tech)
- Chaperone Policy Training (if gap >6 months or updated module)
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
Additional Requirements
- Must provide 7 years of work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Employment verification for last 7 years required (attestations not accepted)
- References required per standard protocol
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start

This position is suitable for candidates with at least 1 year of Cath Lab Tech experience, including first-time travel healthcare workers, who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and meet the licensing and certification requirements.
