Registered Nurse – Cath Lab

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 40 hours/week)
• Call: Shared equally among team members; typically two nights per week and every other weekend. Includes after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Weekend On-Call: From close of business Friday to department opening Monday morning, with expectation to arrive within 30 minutes if called.
• Floating: May be asked to assist in Interventional Radiology (IR) or Cardiac Cath Lab as needed.
• Emergency Team: Upon assignment start, may be assigned to an Emergency Team with expectation to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of relief teams.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association, current at start
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association, current at start
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Competency to perform conscious sedation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
  • Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly.
• Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required.
• License Verification: Must be completed within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start.
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; must be initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance. Instant screenings not accepted.
• Physical Exam: Required within 12 months of start, indicating good physical health.
• Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit test required within one year of start; can be completed onsite if needed.
• Immunizations & Health: Must provide proof of:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (positive IGG titer or completed vaccine series).
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series, or signed declination within 1 year.
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination series.
  • Tdap vaccination (required only for select specialties, not specified here).
• Flu Vaccination: Vaccine, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).

Additional Requirements

• Photo for Badge: Full-color, passport-style photo taken within last 6 months, plain background, no obstructions or filters; upload within 24 hours of booking.
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually.
• Employment History: Resume/application required with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps.
• Competency Exam: Specialty-specific exam required within 1 year prior to start; minimum 80% score; updated annually.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Certification: Required; must be updated annually. Can be completed onsite during orientation week if applicable.
