Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job – Slidell, Louisiana

Job Details

Job Expectations

• Upon starting, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with an expectation to stay onsite until the event passes or be part of a relief team during emergency events.
• You must be comfortable with reporting as assigned by your unit manager during emergency situations.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in Louisiana
• Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
• ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy (ARRT T)
• Current BLS certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Sex offender search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required
• Employment History: Resume/application with 7 years of employment history and explanations for gaps
• Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
• Photo for Badge: Full-color, passport-style photo taken within last 6 months, plain background, no obstructions or filters, uploaded within 24 hours of booking

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Must indicate good physical health, completed within 12 months prior to start
• Fit Mask Testing: Annual N95 fit test required; can be completed onsite if needed
• Immunizations/Vaccinations: Must provide proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• TB Testing: Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months of start; chest X-ray and symptom-free questionnaire required if positive
• Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant screenings not accepted
• Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with vaccine, declination, or medical/religious exemption documentation

Additional Notes

• Competency exams specific to specialty must be completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
• Color blindness testing required annually for lab staff (if applicable).
• Candidates must comply with emergency preparedness protocols, especially during hurricane season (June 1 – Nov 30).
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit assignment (confirm with management).

This position requires a professional comfortable with emergency response duties and working in a specialized oncology radiation therapy environment using advanced equipment.
