Job Opportunity: PCU Float Registered Nurse

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Support Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to overflow areas including Emergency Department (for holds)
• Night shift options: either 3 or 4 shifts per week, each 12 hours (7 PM to 7 AM)
• Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee; must be agreeable to alternating 36/48 hour schedules
• Preferred start date within the next 3-5 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• BLS certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches (7 years), nationwide, and sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent testing accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required (or documented immunity/declination):

  • TDAP (within 10 years)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine (required October 1 - May 31; medical/religious exemptions possible)
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (instant acceptable), plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
• Two professional references within 3 years
• Resume or employment application copy
• Annual updates required for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start
• Some certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification) depending on assignment specifics
• Medication and competency exams required as applicable by profession

This position offers a challenging and dynamic role for experienced PCU RNs comfortable with night shifts and flexible scheduling, supporting multiple units in a fast-paced environment.
