Oncology Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
- Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope as needed
- Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Hematology/Oncology experience of at least 1 year within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Continuous infusion of chemotherapy
- Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
- Oral administration of chemotherapy
- Care and management of ports
- Central line blood draw
- Central line/implanted line care
- PICC line care
- Starting IVs
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required within 30 days of start, including criminal, sex offender, and national databases
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by November 30
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
- References: Two professional references required for travel and acute care candidates
- Photo for Badge: Color photo required before start
- Parking: Permit required, no cost

Notes
- No on-call requirement
- Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
- First-time travel nurses accepted
This position is ideal for an Oncology RN with at least one year of experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in an acute care, Magnet-designated hospital setting.
