Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Snellville, Georgia
Job Details
- Position: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
- Location: Snellville, Georgia
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40 hours
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Unit & Work Environment
- Patient ratio: 3 rooms with 5 beds each; average daily census of 8-10 patients
- Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color provided by facility
- Floating: May float within facility or to sister campus as needed within scope of practice
- Call requirement: 10 call days per month
- Weekend schedule: Every third weekend
- Holiday work: Required to work 1-2 major holidays if they fall during assignment
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience as a Registered Nurse
- 1st time travelers accepted
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Clinical Skills & Competencies
- Circulate procedures
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Must pass Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (up to 3 attempts allowed)
Compliance & Screening
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
- Clinical screening to determine fit before final manager approval
- Locals accepted at same rate
Orientation & Training
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required by agency
- Color blind testing required; alternative assessment available if needed
- Competency exam required by agency (not by client)
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia, verified within 30 days prior to start
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry check
- Education verification (degree related to nursing)
- Education verification can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (agency requirement)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (results must be available before start)
- Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
Health & Immunization Requirements
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest x-ray if previously positive
- TB questionnaire required annually regardless of TB test result
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
Facility Policies
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be able to work major holidays if they fall during the assignment period
- Floating to sister campus possible within scope of practice
- Clinical remediation for competency exams is not allowed; work remediation permitted
- Candidates who fail the dysrhythmia competency exam after 3 attempts will be cancelled
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
