Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Pomona, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work schedule: Staggered 10-hour day shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM and 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM), alternating throughout the schedule
- On-call and weekend availability required
- Call schedule: Two 48-hour weekends and 14 weekday shifts on call within 6 weeks
- Responsibilities include floating from mainland to city locations if needed
- Must have experience in scrub and circulate roles, including vascular/hybrid cases
- Types of cases handled: Cardiovascular, Vascular, Cardiac, Thoracic, Gynecological, General OR, and some Robotics
- Scrubs provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Operating Room (OR) experience
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
Certifications & Competencies
- NIH Stroke Certification required for RNs in ER, ICU, CCU, Telemetry, and Step-Down units
- Pass/Fail “In House Skills Assessment” during orientation (contract may be cancelled if failed)
- Core Mandatories/Inservice Training with testing and passing score of 80% or above, updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam not required for OR nurses
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for OR nurses
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam (medical clearance) within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for Lab or Sterile Processing Techs)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire updated annually
- Vaccines or positive titers required for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella
- 10-panel drug test within 60 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 - March 31); medical and religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
Background & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify or attestation confirming work eligibility in the US required
- Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year search and international search if applicable
- Education verification required; official transcripts if diplomas cannot verify education
- Work history documenting 2 years of recent, relevant experience
- Two current references from supervisors or educators within the past 2 years
- Performance evaluation completed by agency within last 12 months
- Skills checklist appropriate to assigned unit completed within last 12 months
- Signed HIPAA statement and orientation acknowledgements required
- Various facility-specific job descriptions and policy acknowledgements required
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting required only for Behavioral Health units (not applicable for this position)
- Candidate must complete self-learning orientation and post-assessment test prior to start
- Central Registry Form required only for Behavioral Health units
