Radiation Therapist Travel/Contract Job - Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift Options:
    • 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, occasionally 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
    • 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (staggered shifts: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, both with 30-minute lunch)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 therapist to 5 patients
  • Call, Float, Weekend Requirements: None
  • Orientation: No dimensions or orientation needed; traveler will start directly in the clinic
  • Work Locations: Float coverage between two clinical sites approximately 30 minutes apart in Wilmington, NC coastal region
  • Team Environment: Therapists always work paired with at least one other therapist; no solo work
  • Special Assignments: Contract staff may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
  • Unit Systems: ARIA software used for treatment planning and management

Required Skills & Experience

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Radiation Therapist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Therapeutic (T) certification

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Therapeutic (T)

Licensing

  • Must hold a valid license appropriate for Radiation Therapist discipline

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative result required)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (not required for non-clinical)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination if negative/equivocal)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • TB testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 5 years and physician-signed TB questionnaire required annually
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies including confidentiality agreement, medication safety training, and annual compliance training

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete facility-specific education modules and orientation (approx. 8-10 hours for acute candidates)
  • Must provide a passport-style photo for badge creation (white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses)
  • Must complete the Corp ID process including logging into the facility’s learning system within 24 hours of receiving credentials
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel and acute care allied candidates
  • Radiation badge required and will be provided if applicable

Important Notes

  • No return to origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Traveler will not be expected to perform certain advanced procedures alone (e.g., block cutting, dose calculations, CT sims)
  • Shift times may vary occasionally based on clinic needs
  • Scrubs are not provided; royal blue color recommended

This position is ideal for Radiation Therapists with at least 2 years of experience seeking a travel contract in a supportive, team-based outpatient clinic environment in Wilmington, NC. First-time travelers are welcome.
