Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Stroke Unit
Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Stroke
- Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 – 7:15)
- Days of Week: Various, including weekends as needed
- Patient Population: Stroke, COVID, Medical-Surgical patients
- Unit Size: 30 staffed beds
- Charting System: Epic
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 1:5
- Night: 1:6
- Ratios may flex based on staffing and unit needs; candidates must be comfortable with flexible staffing ratios
- Floating: Required within scope; may float to similar units or sister facilities as needed
- Scrub Color: Navy
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Acute care nursing experience
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Special Requirements
- Prior experience working with stroke patients and in acute care settings
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Comfortable working in environments with flexible nurse-to-patient ratios
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification, sex offender search, and sanction list checks
- Education Verification: Accredited nursing program (CCNE or ACEN)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months (3M 1860S, 1860R, or 1870/1870+)
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or vaccines)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- COVID vaccine proof or signed declination
- Drug Testing: Within 30 days of start and updated annually (specific panel required)
- Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and include:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency
- Core Part I, II, III
- OSHA mandatory training
- Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- References: Two references from last two years, including one from the past year, preferably from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Maximum of 10 return-to-office (RTO) days allowed during contract; no RTO allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026
- Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
- Candidates must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of assignment start to avoid clearance issues
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs comfortable with night shifts, flexible staffing, and caring for stroke and medical-surgical patients in a telemetry setting.
