Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Stroke Unit

Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Stroke
  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 – 7:15)
  • Days: Various days of the week
  • Patient Population: Stroke, COVID, Medical-Surgical patients
  • Total Beds on Unit: 30
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
    • Day: 1:5
    • Night: 1:6
    • Ratios may flex based on staffing and unit needs; candidates must be comfortable with flexible staffing ratios
  • Floating: Required within scope; may float to sister units/facilities as needed
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, per unit needs
  • Scrub Color: Navy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Acute care nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Proof of legal name change if applicable
  • Background Checks (within 60 days):
    • 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education Verification (transcript/diploma acceptable)
  • NURSYS Verification (RN license) within 60 days of start
  • Colorado CAPS Check Results within 60 days of start
  • Employment Application and Work History Verification covering last 3 years (gaps >30 days must be explained)
  • References: 2 references from last 2 years, including one from last year, from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
  • Skills Checklist: Annual requirement

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
  • Fit Mask Test: Within 12 months, annual update required (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
  • Immunizations/Vaccines:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (QGold/TSpot or True 2-Step PPD)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity by titer or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • COVID-19 vaccine or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
  • Drug Testing: Within 30 days of start and annually; includes a comprehensive 9-panel urine drug screen
  • Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)

Competency Exams (Must be current within 1 year)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency (required for Med/Surg, Telemetry, Stepdown, PCU, ICU, ER, Neuro ICU, etc.)
  • Core Parts I, II, and III
  • OSHA Mandatory Training

Special Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) days max: 10 days approved, with blackout periods in May, June-July, and September 2026
  • Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
  • Candidates must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of assignment start to avoid clearance issues

This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs comfortable with night shifts, flexible staffing ratios, and caring for stroke and medical-surgical patients in a telemetry setting.
