Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) - Winona, Minnesota

Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 36 hours per week (5 shifts/week)
• Schedule: 0645-1515 with late stay rotations and on-call rotations; block scheduling
• Call Requirements:

  • Weeknight call: 1-2 times per week, approximately 15.5 hours total
  • Weekend call: 1-2 times per month, 24-hour shifts (Saturday 0645 to Sunday 0645)
  • Holiday call: May include day before, day of, and day after holidays; if holiday falls on Monday or Friday, weekend before or after may be included
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
• Floating: May be asked to float into OR scrub role, PAA/PACU, or sterile processing to assist as needed
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with preceptor plus 1-2 call shifts with preceptor
• Facility Type: Rural community hospital with a wide variety of cases
• Operating Rooms: 7 suites
• Average Cases per Day: 5-25

Case Types

• General surgery
• Orthopedic/sports medicine (including total joints)
• Plastics and cosmetics (preferred)
• Podiatry
• Cataracts/Eye procedures
• OB/GYN/Women’s Health (non-cancer related)

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification via NBSTSA
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program (must be certified)
• Minimum 3 years of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) experience
• Experience with general surgery and orthopedic cases, specifically total joints
• Experience in similar-sized facilities such as Trauma Level 3 & 4 or Critical Access Hospitals
• Comfortable transitioning between scrubbing and assisting roles

Additional Information

• Scrub color/dress code provided by facility; scrubs cannot be worn outside the facility
• Must arrive presentable to the facility
• No charge nurse or house supervisor responsibilities for this role
• Radius rule: 100 miles from facility
