Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Rehab
Location: Weirton, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- Inpatient Rehab unit with 7 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:7
- Patient diagnoses commonly include:
- CVA (stroke), TIA
- MI (myocardial infarction)
- Hip fracture
- Parkinson’s disease
- Exacerbation of chronic conditions
- Debility
- Motor vehicle accidents (MVA)
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Rehab therapies available: Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP)
- Respiratory equipment used: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow oxygen
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical or rehab nursing experience (higher experience requirement applies)
- Must be comfortable working independently
- Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver’s license (50-mile radius rule applies)
- Any licensing issues must be disclosed at time of submission
Job Responsibilities & Environment
- No titration of drips required
- No telemetry or monitor techs; RNs do not read strips
- Attend weekly interdisciplinary team meetings/huddles
- No charge nurse on shift; one nurse and one patient care technician (PCT) per shift
- PCT-to-patient ratio: 1:7
- Floating may occur only if no census on rehab unit; possible float to medical-surgical, medical-surgical telemetry, or intermediate care units for lower acuity patients
- No ward clerk or secretary on unit; part-time unit case manager available
Scheduling & Time Off
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling; schedules are discussed with staff and adjusted for vacations and holidays
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday rotation may include:
- Group 1: New Year’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve
- Group 2: Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas
- Groups alternate every other year
Orientation
- Unit-specific orientation includes:
- 1 day with educator
- 1-2 days with preceptor
Dress Code
- Nurses: Navy blue scrubs
- Patient Care Technicians: Ceil blue scrubs
