Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Rosedale, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
  • Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
  • Types of visits include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a current driver’s license, and agency-required liability insurance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic; expected weekly travel between 100-300 miles.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (standard 5x8 hours). Some positions may have a 4x10 schedule (Friday-Monday).
  • Weekend rotation: approximately 1 weekend per month.
  • On-call requirement: approximately 1 week per month.
  • Charting system: Proficiency required in HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS (for RNs). Must have used HCHB within the last 6 months or be willing to retrain.
  • Dress code: Scrubs.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license valid in Maryland (license must be in hand; pending licenses not accepted).
  • Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health experience or 1 full year Hospice experience depending on specialty.
  • CPR and BLS certification (AHA, National CPR Foundation, or ARC accepted).
  • Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS documentation systems.
  • Must have recent specialty experience; first-time travelers are not accepted.
  • Reliable transportation and current driver’s license required.
  • Must carry agency-required liability insurance.

Productivity Expectations

  • Weekly productivity target: 30 points (points assigned based on types of visits and activities).
  • Daily patient visits: 5-10 patients, equating to roughly 6-8 points per day.

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender, drug screening, and state-specific searches as applicable.
  • Education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation.
  • COVID-19 vaccination series completion or declination required.
  • Fingerprinting and state-specific clearances as required by Maryland and other applicable states.
  • Must review and sign various compliance documents prior to start, including confidentiality, HIPAA, privacy policies, and home health core policies.
  • Must complete compliance training and quizzes prior to assignment start.

Travel & Local Candidates

  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
  • Must be willing to travel within a 75-mile radius from the home clinic location.

Notes

  • Weekend and on-call requirements vary; discuss specifics during the interview.
  • If patient census is low and hours are insufficient, floating to a nearby clinic may be arranged to pick up additional hours.

This position is ideal for experienced Home Health RNs with recent specialty experience who are comfortable with travel and working independently in a home care setting.
