Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery
- Required to chart using Epic electronic health record system
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in the specialty
- Prior travel nursing experience is required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN certifications (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
- Additional certifications may be required as applicable: PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI
Licensure and Verification
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Texas with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification required
- Driver’s License or State ID required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination/booster as applicable)
- Varicella (or documented history of chickenpox)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Work history verification covering 7 years
- Fingerprinting required for certain states (not applicable in Texas)
Competency and Documentation
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
- Color blindness test (online version accepted)
- Core competency exams as applicable
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Clear headshot photo for badge
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this travel assignment (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris)

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Prior travel nursing experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- AWHONN certifications: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced
