ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Chicago, IL
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Call Requirements: None
- Time Off (RTO) Policy:
- Maximum 5 days off total, no more than 2 consecutive days
- No time off allowed on or adjacent to holidays or weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope as needed by the facility

- Level 1 Trauma Center
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking garage adjacent to hospital entrance (approx. 2–3 minute walk)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; Illinois fingerprinting may be required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; annual updates required
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (booster if low titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; must be initiated within 48 hours of contract signing
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing (if applicable)
- Completion of facility-specific forms and rules of behavior

- No block scheduling; shifts are fixed nights
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week
- Local candidates preferred but travel nurses accepted
- Floating is mandatory as per facility policy to meet staffing needs
