Outpatient Surgery Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Morehead, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Procedurally focused nursing role with approximately 70% of time spent on colonoscopy and endoscopies.
• Experience required with biopsies, endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopies, snares, ERBE, gold probe, APC therapy, dilation, injector needles, and Roth nets.
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts (start times vary between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM depending on case schedule).
• One on-call shift per week.
• Total weekly hours: 40.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience, with recent experience within the last year.
• Experience in outpatient surgery settings.
• BLS certification issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required.
• Background checks:

  • 7-year criminal history check within one year of start, updated annually.
  • Must include all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Includes SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS level 3 checks.
  • Background checks must be within 6 months of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal/extension.
• Healthstream modules required prior to start.
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year of start, updated annually; if positive TB, chest x-ray required within 2 months of start.
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines.
  • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination.
  • Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions or declinations accepted).
  • Pneumococcal vaccine or declination required if placed on Transitional Care or Inpatient Rehab Units; otherwise declination form required if vaccine declined.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable).
• Color blindness testing required.

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable.
• General competency exams required as applicable.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required.

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
• Complete employment application/resume.
• Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
• Attendance policy and code of conduct must be reviewed and signed.
• Professional image and hygiene policy review required.

Shift Details

• Day shift, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day.
• Shift hours approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
• One on-call shift per week.
