Oncology Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Seattle, WA
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Oncology (Chemo Certified)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Start Date: ASAP
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in oncology nursing; outpatient oncology experience considered for Medical-Surgical RNs
- First-Time Travel Nurses: Accepted
- Floating: Yes, within all Medical-Surgical units of the hospital; no floating to sister hospitals
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 1 week
Clinical Responsibilities & Special Notes
- Care for patients with lymphoma, solid tumors, and sarcoma
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy with appropriate precautions
- Port access and central venous catheter (CVC) maintenance
- IV starts and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) management
- Use of lift equipment and telemetry monitoring (3x)
- May need to transport patients to procedures/testing
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Chemotherapy Certification
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Washington State
- Minimum 2 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy certification (CHEMO)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including nationwide and sex offender registries
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- Various federal and state background checks (OIG, SAM, EPLS/GSA)
- WA State WATCH background check required
- Physical exam and 10-panel drug screen required (Aya-specific, not facility)
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific mask models preferred)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines)
- Varicella (titer, vaccines, or documented history)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
- COVID vaccination or declination for tracking

- Magnet-designated, teaching hospital, Level 4 Trauma Center
- 281 staffed beds
- Electronic medical record system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Any (scrubs provided for OR personnel)
- Parking available at a monthly cost
Additional Notes
- Call is optional, not mandatory
- Guaranteed hours subject to census; may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift in a 2-week cycle
- Candidates must complete an EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation prior to start
- Photo for badge required before orientation (DMV style, no selfies)
- Various facility-specific agreements and training modules required prior to start
- Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington (if applicable)
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific and facility-specific documentation and training requirements prior to assignment start
This position is ideal for oncology RNs with chemotherapy certification seeking a night shift travel assignment in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a focus on oncology care.
