Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Targeted start date: June 1 or June 15
- Shift: Monday through Friday, day shifts (options include 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM)
- Hours per week: 40
- Weekend requirement: Possibly 1 weekend and some weeknights
- On-call: Rotating coverage for nights, weekends, and holidays
- Floating: Not applicable
- Work environment: Fast-paced endoscopy department with 3 procedure rooms, 4 pre-procedure rooms, and 4 post-procedure rooms; anesthesia support available for most cases
- May be required to stay late on a rotating basis to complete daily schedule
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of recent endoscopy nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficient with Epic electronic health record system
Orientation & Training
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card required; training provided onsite if needed
- Pass/fail testing on EKG/medication knowledge administered at orientation (passing score 80%)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
- Social Security card (only if used for I9 verification)
- Background checks including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list search
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation for positive PPD history)
- Required immunizations/vaccinations with no exemptions allowed:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (1 vaccine or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Seasonal flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Employment application and 7 years of work history documented
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific online modules must be completed prior to orientation
- Guest account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems

- This department does not perform advanced endoscopy procedures
- Rapid patient turnover expected
- Anesthesia support available for majority of cases
