Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Combination of 2 eight-hour and 2 twelve-hour shifts per week, scheduled between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including call hours.
  • Call Requirements:
    • Call begins at 7:00 PM on weekdays.
    • Weekend call required in 12-hour blocks.
    • Call hours are equitably distributed on a 4-week rotation and may vary monthly based on staffing.
  • Charting System: EPIC required.
  • Work Environment: Level I Trauma facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience working with Level I Trauma patients.
  • Cardiology nursing experience.
  • Vascular surgery nursing experience.
  • Transplant nursing experience.
  • Proficient in using EPIC electronic health record system.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881).
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual testing.
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles) – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
    • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
    • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation).
    • Hepatitis B – Titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12; Tdap required, no exemptions if working with infants or pregnant patients).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene).

Additional Requirements and Policies

  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy.
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
  • Annual fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required (must be completed prior to start or within 90 days of hire).
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies (required for new contracts).
  • Proof of fingerprint completion required for subcontractors.
  • Confidential fraud, waste, and abuse reporting mechanism form required for all candidates.

Parking

  • Parking permits available for purchase (costs and options subject to change). Options include 24/7 garage access and shuttle service.

Notes

  • Flexibility in scheduling is essential due to variable shift hours and call requirements.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Candidates must be prepared for a rigorous credentialing and compliance process specific to Ohio state and facility requirements.
