Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Centralia, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Volume: Experience required in settings with at least 100 patients per day
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Must be experienced with 4:1 ratios
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Float: Floating within scope of practice required
  • Weekend Work: Required
  • Local Candidates: Not eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department (ED), including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience managing patient volumes of at least 100 patients per day for 2 years
  • Experience working with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 for 2 years
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (as applicable)
  • Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually
  • Education Verification: Nursing degree verification required; international education requires additional documentation
  • NURSYS Verification for RN license status
  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
  • Immunizations and Health Requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
  • Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates
  • Fit Mask Test: Required annually for travel candidates; may be completed onsite
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
  • Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable units

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exams as required by specialty
  • NIH Stroke Certification (renew every 2 years)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (if required)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or assessment (if applicable)
  • Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training Modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Epic System Training Modules (if applicable to facility/unit)

Additional Requirements

  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
  • Washington State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required by law
  • Multi-State Licensed Nurses in Washington must complete demographic attestations prior to start
  • Float Policy Acknowledgement form required

Notes

  • Candidates must submit all required documents and certifications prior to start
  • Background checks with open/active felony cases or multiple DUI charges will result in disqualification
  • Candidates currently working at another facility with less than a 30-day gap may not need new background checks or drug screens if existing ones are valid
  • Local travelers within 50 miles are not eligible for this travel contract

This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced Emergency Room environment with a supportive team and requires a strong clinical background and commitment to patient care standards.
