Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Centralia, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Patient Volume: Experience required in settings with at least 100 patients per day
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Must be experienced with 4:1 ratios
- On-Call: Not required
- Float: Floating within scope of practice required
- Weekend Work: Required
- Local Candidates: Not eligible if residing within 50 miles of the facility
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department (ED), including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience managing patient volumes of at least 100 patients per day for 2 years
- Experience working with nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 for 2 years
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background Check: Must be completed within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually
- Education Verification: Nursing degree verification required; international education requires additional documentation
- NURSYS Verification for RN license status
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates
- Fit Mask Test: Required annually for travel candidates; may be completed onsite
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
- Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable units
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exams as required by specialty
- NIH Stroke Certification (renew every 2 years)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (if required)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or assessment (if applicable)
- Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training Modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic System Training Modules (if applicable to facility/unit)
Additional Requirements
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
- Washington State Patrol Search and other state-specific background checks as required by law
- Multi-State Licensed Nurses in Washington must complete demographic attestations prior to start
- Float Policy Acknowledgement form required
Notes
- Candidates must submit all required documents and certifications prior to start
- Background checks with open/active felony cases or multiple DUI charges will result in disqualification
- Candidates currently working at another facility with less than a 30-day gap may not need new background checks or drug screens if existing ones are valid
- Local travelers within 50 miles are not eligible for this travel contract
