Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Pomona, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Cardiovascular (CV) experience required.
- Must have experience with scrub and circulate roles, including vascular/hybrid cases.
- Types of cases include Cardiovascular, Vascular, Cardiac, Thoracic, GYN, General OR, and some Robotics.
- Shift schedule: Staggered 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM and 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM), alternating throughout the schedule.
- On-call and weekend availability required.
- Call requirement: Two 48-hour weekends and 14 weekday shifts in 6 weeks. Weeknight call is Monday-Friday 7 PM to 7 AM; weekend call from Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
- First to float from Mainland to City if needed.
- Scrubs provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Operating Room (OR) experience
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID).
- E-Verify or attestation confirming work eligibility in the US.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year search and international search if applicable.
- Education verification (diplomas or official transcripts).
- Primary source verification of NJ RN license within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam (medical clearance) within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for Lab Techs or Sterile Processing Techs).
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually.
- 10-panel drug test within 60 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted except for approved medical or religious exemptions.
- Signed HIPAA statement and orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Pass/Fail “In House Skills Assessment” during orientation; failure may result in contract cancellation.
- Core mandatory/inservice training with testing (Core Part I, II, III) required annually with a passing score of 80% or above.
- Medication and unit-specific competency exams required.
- NIH Stroke Certification required for RNs in ER, ICU, CCU, Telemetry, and Step-Down units.
References & Work History
- Two current references from supervisors or educators related to the position within the past 2 years.
- Resume/work history documenting 2 years of recent, relevant experience.
- Skills checklist appropriate to assigned unit completed within the last 12 months.
- Performance evaluation completed by agency within the last 12 months.
- Work history verification covering 2 consecutive years prior to start required; attestations not accepted.
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting required only for Behavioral Health units (not applicable here).
- Central Registry Form required only for Behavioral Health units.
- Candidate must complete self-learning orientation and post-assessment test prior to start.
- Orientation dress code policy applies.
- Emergency contact information required.
