Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Pain Management / Interventional Radiology

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Pain Management / Interventional Radiology
  • Shift: Evening, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call Requirements:
    • On-call rotation Monday-Friday, 12 AM – 8 AM
    • Weekends and holidays on-call coverage 24 hours
    • On-call rotated among all nurses
    • Occasional weekend day shift (8 AM – 4:30 PM) may be required
  • Request Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after holidays
  • Floating: Mandatory floating within Radiology and Pain departments as needed
  • Staff must wear lead protection during shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include all aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year; medical or religious exemptions require approval for onsite PAPR use
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
    • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months; PPDs not accepted after 12/15/2025
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – May 4)
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; marijuana testing not required
  • Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and color blindness testing (for starts after specified dates)

Additional Notes

  • This is a mandatory float facility; nurses must be willing to float within the Radiology and Pain departments
  • No block scheduling available
  • No holidays off except when on call
  • References and employment application required per state and agency standards

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a background in Pain Management and Interventional Radiology seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with a structured evening shift and on-call responsibilities.
