Registered Nurse - Surgery (Travel)

Location

• Lake Charles, Louisiana

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (may be asked to work until 3:30 PM)
• On-call 1-2 times per week and potentially on weekends
• Potential weekend call required

Patient Population and Cases

• ENT (pediatric, mostly geriatric and bariatric)
• Urology
• Gynecology
• General surgery
• Smaller orthopedic cases (shoulder, knee, hip)

Work Setting

• Operating Room (OR) only
• May be asked to float to a nearby OR location (5 minutes away)

Nurse to Patient Ratio

• 1:1

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Circulator experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in the OR setting
• Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed
• Meet professional nursing competencies and standards of practice
