Description
Vascular Sonographer
Location: Newton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 07:00 AM – 04:30 PM
Job Summary
Perform and oversee vascular ultrasound procedures to assess blood flow, detect vascular abnormalities, and assist in diagnosing and treating vascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a variety of vascular ultrasound exams including carotid, arterial, venous, and peripheral vascular studies.
- Utilize Doppler and color-flow imaging to evaluate blood flow and identify abnormalities.
- Maintain and calibrate vascular ultrasound equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound examinations.
- Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to determine appropriate ultrasound protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Vascular Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation of MMR immunity (two MMR vaccines or proof of immunity via blood test).
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if there is a break in service longer than 6 months.
- Physician-signed health statement within 1 year of start date, updated if break in service exceeds 6 months.
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry checks, updated as required.
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, and Medicaid exclusion lists within 30 days of start and annually.
- Resume including 7 years of work experience with city and state details.
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission.
- Confirmation of assignment form required for initial assignments and extensions.
- Education verification of highest degree or certification achieved.
- Social Security Number trace as part of background check.
Additional Information
- Positive TB test requires documentation of a negative chest X-ray after the positive test.
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred but not mandatory.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred but optional.
- Name change documentation required if legal name differs from credential documentation.

- No prior travel experience required.
