NICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Everett, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a Level II NICU at a campus specializing in maternity and pediatric care.
- Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM).
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
- Floating required to Family Maternity Center/Postpartum (babies only).
- Care for neonates 22 weeks gestation and older with conditions such as prematurity, bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), nutritional risks, and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) exams.
- Use of conventional ventilators, oscillators, bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula.
- No surgeries, ostomies, or tracheostomies performed in this unit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Facility & Work Environment
- Level II Trauma Center with 571 staffed beds across campuses.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Facility-paid parking.
- Scrub color: Any except reddish orange.
- Locals are not accepted for this travel position.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Fit mask test required annually (onsite completion possible if no recent record).
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination forms accepted for:
- TDAP (within 10 years)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B - vaccination series or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
- 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- State-specific searches and verifications as required by Washington law.
- Education verification required for nursing degree.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of relevant experience within last 3 years.
Training & Competencies
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or equivalent training required for Labor & Delivery RNs (if applicable).
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: Clinician may be called off for 1 twelve-hour shift per 2-week period.
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities.
- Passport-style badge photo required for badge issuance.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized NICU environment with comprehensive maternity services, requiring strong neonatal nursing skills and flexibility to float within related units.
