ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Evening (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 48
  • Unit: ICU with floating between units
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Schedules: Not required
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 to 1:3
  • Overtime: 48 hours approved

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in general surgery and trauma
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit-specific needs (verify with clinical track if uncertain)

Required Health & Safety Documents

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or signed declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, declination accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
  • Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel starts on or after 2/5/2024, updated annually
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start

Background & Verification Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Education verification for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
  • Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
  • NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
  • State-specific background checks as applicable

Uniform & Facility Notes

  • Dress code for licensed nursing personnel: solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (print tops not allowed except in specific pediatric or women’s services units)
  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
  • May be required to float to other nearby facilities within the region

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned LMS platform
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start
