RN Surgery Nurse Manager - Alaska (Contract)

Job Summary

• Oversee operations and staff (clinical and non-clinical) of the Surgical Services Department, including Operating Room, Outpatient Surgical Services, Anesthesia, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
• Evaluate and promote patient care safety and well-being.
• Coordinate visiting specialists' schedules in the OR.
• Manage fiscal, material, and human resources of the department.
• Participate in policy development and implementation.
• Maintain interdepartmental communication and enforce quality and safety standards.
• Develop and implement systems to improve staff and patient quality and safety.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (TJC, state, federal).
• Foster a Culture of Safety and engage staff in Continuous Quality Improvement.
• Apply age-specific and cultural considerations in patient care.
• Knowledgeable of AORN Guidelines and Perioperative Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.

Contract Details

• Length: 26 weeks
• Shift: Discuss with manager; primarily days
• Hours per week: 32

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Experience in management roles.
• Knowledge of coding and billing for Title 47 patients.
