Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Registered Nurse)
Location: Sunnyside, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3x12 hours, 7 PM – 7 AM) or Day (3x12 hours, 7 AM – 7 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse position
- Requires 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Must hold current Washington RN license (or compact license with additional WA state requirements)
- Certifications required: BLS, NRP, AWHONN
- ACLS and PALS certifications commonly required due to facility size and unit needs
- STABLE certification preferred at start, required by 6 months
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check including SSN trace, alias/name changes, statewide and national checks, sex offender registry, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Washington State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Employment application and 3 recent employment references required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam with physician’s statement within 1 year of start
- Fit testing for N95 mask performed onsite; required annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or T-SPOT) within 30 days of start; chest X-ray if positive test history
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no instant tests accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required by November 1; mask required if declined
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (headshot on plain white background)
- Completion of Code of Conduct Acknowledgement and Confidentiality Agreements prior to start
- Completion of new employee orientation and onboarding paperwork within specified timeframes
- Fit test onsite after orientation
- Professional Assault Crisis Training (ProAct) required within 6 months if working in Behavioral Health (not specified for this role)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must notify management and orientation staff if they have latex allergies
- No PAPR testing available; failure to pass fit test restricts care for TB isolation patients
- Candidates must complete state-approved suicide prevention training and demographic attestation if using a compact license with Washington as a secondary state
