Description
MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Huntersville, North Carolina
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
- Call Requirement: One rotating weekend call required (8/8/26 - 8/9/26), call shift 7:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Float Requirement: None
- Patient Population: Adult acute care, ICU, outpatient, ER/Trauma; supports outpatients, inpatients, and ED patients
- Patient Diagnoses: Varies
- Unit Details: MRI department performs general MR exams excluding invasive procedures requiring anesthesia, breast MRIs, prostates, and biopsies
- Equipment: Medrad injector and GE Voyager (competency with GE equipment required)
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC (required), Visage, PACS, SBAR, Microsoft Teams
Required Qualifications
- Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- ARRT MR certification
- BLS certification
- Experience in Acute Care settings
- Experience in Outpatient settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric Acute Care and Pediatric Outpatient skills
Orientation & Onboarding
- Orientation: 40 hours
- Start Date: Subject to scheduling and trainer availability; travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week (start may be Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday)
- Scrubs: Not provided; Royal Blue color recommended
- Interview: Manager interview required prior to offer
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Background checks including local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree related to profession
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (negative 10-panel drug screen required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
- Fit testing required (N95 mask or PAPR training via Novant iLearn system)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if needed)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination if negative/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 10/31)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- Required facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreement, education roster, tobacco-free campus acknowledgement, medication safety training, hospital policies, and annual compliance training
- State-specific searches for North Carolina (Division of Medical Assistance and Healthcare Personnel Registry) within 90 days prior to start
Additional Notes
- Ratio: 1:2 (Days/Mids), average daily census 18 patients, 151 beds in facility
- No float requirement
- No weekend shifts except one required weekend call
- Must complete all required education and compliance modules prior to start
- Candidate must provide proof of completion for required trainings and certifications
- Radiation badge required if applicable (not typical for MRI Tech but noted for related roles)
This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 2 years of experience in adult acute care settings who are comfortable with a variety of MRI procedures and equipment, and who can commit to a 13-week travel contract with a structured orientation and rotating weekend call.
