Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Travel/Contract)

Location: Everett, Washington
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a free-standing Emergency Department (ED) with 24 beds.
  • Approximately 15% pediatric patients.
  • RN performs respiratory therapy (RT) and pharmacy roles (no RT or pharmacy staff on site).
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Procedure sedation and Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI) drug administration
    • Care of drains, Port-A-Cath, and vascular devices
    • Use of syringe pumps and management of triple lumen catheters
    • Trach care, cardioversion/defibrillation, breathing treatments
    • Feeding tube management, PICC line care, and rapid infuser use

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Certifications:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Skills and competencies:
    • Trach care
    • Cardioversion/defibrillation
    • Feeding tube management
    • PICC line care
    • Rapid infuser operation

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually.
  • Education verification required (nursing degree).
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
  • Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
  • A float policy acknowledgment is required; may be asked to float to other nearby facilities.
  • WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start for Washington placements.
  • WA Multi-State Licensed Nurses Demographic Attestation required for nurses working with out-of-state compact licenses in Washington.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is preferred but not explicitly required.
  • This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment length.
  • The role requires working night shifts with 36 hours per week.
  • The facility is a free-standing ED without onsite respiratory therapy or pharmacy support, so the RN will cover these roles.

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses comfortable with pediatric patients and advanced emergency procedures, seeking a travel assignment in Washington state.
