Description
Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech
Location: Arlington, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Call Requirements: 2-3 call shifts per week, including 1-2 call weekends every 6 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a cardiac catheterization lab with 4 labs operating Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Procedures performed include coronary angiograms/PCIs, CTOs, peripheral interventions, EPS with possible ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator placements, BIVs, TAVRs, Mitraclips, Watchman/Amulet devices, and mitral valve procedures.
- Daily caseload ranges from 25-30 cases.
- Scrubs are provided.
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience working in an outpatient setting
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification
- RCIS or ARRT certification
Certifications & Licenses
- Must hold either RCIS or ARRT certification.
- If ARRT certified, a valid Virginia state license is required (temporary license process accepted).
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); medical or religious exemptions must comply with CMS guidelines.
- Additional preferred skills: IV start, phlebotomy, circulation, Watchman procedures, septal closure, ablations, pacemaker/defibrillator device placement, EPIC system familiarity.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Negative 11-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Pre-employment physical exam within one year, including assessment of ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit mask test within last 12 months (specific mask types required).
- Negative TB test (PPD, Tspot, or QGold) within one year; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Adult TDAP vaccine required for certain units (not specifically for this role).
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
Background & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for every contract renewal.
- Education verification and work history verification (7 years) required.
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Completion of employment application/resume.
- Radiation badge required for cath lab techs; attestation of prior radiation exposure must be completed.
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, code of ethics, dress code, infection control, parking, vendor access).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service.
- Candidates will be required to wear both agency and facility badges at all times.
- Orientation includes HIPAA training and core competency exams.
- EPIC training modules may be required depending on assignment.
- Candidate must complete a traveler checklist prior to start.
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Technologists with strong cardiac cath lab procedural skills and required certifications, seeking a 13-week travel contract with a structured day shift schedule and call responsibilities.
