Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
• On-call Requirement: No
• Floating: No floating outside like units; floating allowed only to like units within the facility
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
• Radius Rule: Must live within 60 miles of the facility
• Locals: Accepted on a case-by-case basis

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 2 years of Wound Care experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA)

Required Health and Safety Documents

• Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
• Fit Test: N95 mask fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series; boosters required if low titer
  • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series; boosters required if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
• TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest X-ray and annual questionnaire required
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Color blindness testing required prior to start
• Competency exam required; pediatric OR candidates may use regular OR competency exam if no pediatric experience

Facility and Orientation Information

• Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
• Total staffed beds: 865
• Charting system: Epic
• Scrubs provided by facility
• Parking: Paid parking for nights and weekends; one-time $20 parking pass fee
• Orientation modules and first day instructions will be sent after clearance; must be completed before orientation
• Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)

• Radiation badge not required for this position
• No floating outside like units
• First-time travelers accepted
• All required documents must be submitted and approved prior to start
• All certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; renewals or scheduled courses required if expiring soon
