ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Pinehurst, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Unit Details:
- Cardiac Critical Care Unit
- 12 beds, average daily census 8
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Cardiology experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system
Experience
- Prior travel experience not required (1st time travelers accepted)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including Social Security trace, counties, nationwide, national sex offender, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- NURSYS verification prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year (to meet standard, not facility-required)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (PPD within 3 months or Qgold/TSPOT within 1 year) updated annually; if positive TB history, clear chest X-ray within 5 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; can start with 2nd booster pending if no prior records
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (11/15 - 03/31); exemptions require mask use in patient care areas
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates, phencyclidine, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, MDMA/MDA)
- Two clinical references required (one must be from supervisor or higher; Charge RN acceptable)
- Completed employment application/resume
- Annual skills checklist
Competencies & Certifications
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blind testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ICU and related units)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (annual)
Additional Information
- Facility unable to accommodate holiday return to office (RTO) requests
- Modules required by specialty must be completed prior to start date (final deadline is Wednesday before start week)
- Employee health may require additional drug screening at orientation
- EPIC experience is mandatory for this role
