Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT / Pediatrics)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: May float within scope depending on experience; no floating to sister facilities
Facility Highlights
- Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
- Total staffed beds: 865
- Charting system: Epic
- Parking: Night and weekend parking available for a one-time fee
Required Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of NICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric, neonate, and infant patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Completed and accurate I-9 form with work eligibility attestation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including national and state criminal searches
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder if verification is pending
- Clinical references: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment history verification for last 3 clinical employers
- Color blind testing prior to start
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
- Passport-style badge photo required before start date
Work Conditions & Additional Information
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require emergency response team participation
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval but is not guaranteed
