Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Pulmonary Function

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No weekends)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Position Overview

  • Role focused on Pulmonary Function testing within Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
  • Must have documented pulmonary function lab experience in work history.
  • No on-call responsibilities.
  • First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are considered.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
  • Candidate must set up a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific training required during orientation.
  • Completion of assigned competency checklists (CBOs) within 3 weeks after start date is mandatory.

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must provide and maintain the following, with some documents accepted on file if there is less than a 30-day gap between assignments:

Identification & Verification

  • Valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID.
  • Social Security card (if used for I-9 verification).
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history.
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months (at least one supervisor).

Background Checks (must be current within 90 days of start)

  • Comprehensive background check including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • OFAC sanctions list search (within 30 days of start).

Health & Immunizations (must be current)

  • Physical exam within 12 months.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation for positive history).
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no exemptions).
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunization or positive antibody titers (no exemptions).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (boosters required for low/equivocal titers).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination for the current flu season (no exemptions).
  • Drug test: Negative 10-panel including THC within 30 days of start (no instant tests).

Certifications & Training

  • BLS (AHA).
  • ACLS preferred.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card training provided onsite if not held.
  • Pass/fail testing on basic technician knowledge administered at orientation (not required for RRTs).
  • Completion of required online modules prior to orientation.
  • Facility-specific competency exams and checklists.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must have no pending background checks at start.
  • Candidates switching between facilities must reactivate Guest Account if previously terminated.
  • Documentation must be uploaded and verified before clearance.
  • Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding instructions and deadlines.
